Protinus brings IT leaders together in Barcelona to discuss digital sovereignty

During the Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo in Barcelona, Protinus IT is organising a private dinner on Monday 9 November for clients, partners and IT decision-makers. The focus will be on how organisations can retain control over their technological choices in an environment where the cloud, data, cyber security, AI and sourcing are becoming increasingly intertwined. ESET, Hitachi and Fujitsu are joining as content partners.

In practice, digital sovereignty is particularly significant in terms of the extent to which organisations can continue to make independent choices, limit unwanted dependencies and remain resilient when circumstances change. As such, it directly relates to digital autonomy and resilience.

The underlying questions are concrete. Where are data and systems located? Who actually retains control over them? What dependencies arise when choosing a technology or cloud provider? And will you actually be able to switch providers later on if conditions, risks or priorities change?

These questions are not isolated from one another. A decision to adopt cloud infrastructure has implications for security, compliance and data governance. AI places different demands on data, infrastructure and governance. And the choice of supplier can determine an organisation’s freedom of choice for years to come.

Digital autonomy and resilience therefore require more than just a technical assessment. It is about the interplay between technology, architecture, sourcing and governance decisions. Precisely because these domains influence one another, it is important not to approach these issues from the perspective of a single discipline or a single supplier.

Different perspectives around one table

At the Gartner Symposium, Protinus has deliberately opted against a traditional programme of presentations and product pitches. The dinner is a small-scale event centred on the exchange of experiences, dilemmas and considerations.

ESET, Hitachi and Fujitsu each bring a different perspective based on their own expertise. This brings together various viewpoints on cybersecurity, data, infrastructure, the cloud and technological dependencies. Not from the perspective of a single solution, but based on the question of what choices organisations must make now in order to maintain control, freedom of choice and continuity in the longer term.

The format is explicitly peer-to-peer. Participants bring their own practical experience and challenges to the table and discuss these with peers and specialists. By comparing choices and experiences, a clearer picture emerges of dependencies, risks and possible courses of action.

The dinner will take place on Monday 9 November from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm at El Tribut in Barcelona and is intended for a select group of Protinus’s clients, business contacts and partners.
